Product Owner

Level: Intermediate/Senior

Location: Toronto, ON (Hybrid)

Scheduling: Full-time (35 hours a week)

Salary: Starting $90K (CAD) annually

 

💭What is the opportunity?

We are looking for a talented Product Owner to join our team! The ideal candidate is always looking for ways to improve a product or service to make it better, faster, and more user-friendly. You are responsible for producing technology solutions from concept to delivery that satisfy customer needs in alignment with our overall strategy.

 

Candidates must be based in Toronto or willing to relocate. This is a hybrid opportunity.

 

🚀What will you do?

  • Lead, inspire and support your cross-functional, agile team to deliver value
  • Inspire the scrum team by painting the vision, plans, objectives, and progress
  • Work with internal and external stakeholders to translate business and technical requirements into a workable backlog
  • Prioritize and sequence the product backlog to provide the most value
  • Understand technology trends to apply to software design
  • Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency
  • Drive Scrum ceremonies like planning, reviews, and refinement
  • Create user stories and acceptance criteria
  • Own and maintain the product backlog and the release plans
  • Monitor team velocity and seek to continuously improve the product development process
  • Participate in internal testing and demos to engage stakeholders to validate deliverables and drive product iteration toward a long-term vision
  • Manage cross-product dependencies
  • Serve as a product expert, product evangelist, and the voice of the customer
  • Work cross-functionally to gather Responsibilities, and customer feedback, and communicate priorities
  • Create mockups and prototypes to assist with the development
  • Analyze metrics to understand customer and product performance
  • Create and update design documents in confluence
  • Create analytics to measure sprint success and identify improvement opportunities

 

💡What do you need to succeed?

  • 5+ years of working experience as a Product Owner (or similar role)
  • 3+ years of Agile-related delivery experience Certified Scrum Product Owner (CSPO) certification and project management experience considered an asset
  • Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) certifications or experience operating in scaled agile delivery considered an asset
  • Love to lead agile team(s)
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Able to inspire the scrum team with company vision(s)
  • Able to balance different projects & stakeholders (internal and external)
  • Set priorities, goals, and enable the team to continuously deliver
  • Good at understanding requirements, especially the tricky and technical ones to turn them into workable backlogs
  • Love to and knows how to write user stories
  • Understands acceptance criteria
  • Experience working in the software industry – SaaS would be the best fit
  • Business minded and has a good technical understanding (or the other way around)
  • Love for customers and understanding their needs

🔋Nice-to-have

  • Bilingual (French and English)
  • Technical background (coding)
  • Agile certifications
  • Experience with Jira Software
  • Experience working with children or in the education sector
  • Able to commute to work in the downtown Toronto area
