Online Tutor

Location: Remote (Online)

Scheduling: Part-Time (12 hours a week), Mon – Thurs 3 PM – 6 PM

Pay: $16.55/hr

Voilà Community Help is a Canadian not-for-profit educational organization that provides virtual online learning and tutoring to students from age 3 to 6 and 7 to 17.  We offer virtual learning and online tutoring through our MetaVerse platform. We work alongside local District School Boards to provide  French, English, and Math to students across the country. We are seeking talented and passionate online Bilingual tutors to join our team. As an online tutor, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, personalized educational support to students in preschool with our Metalingo program for 2-6 years olds and our Voila program for 5 to 17 year olds and grades 1 to 12 in the subjects of French, English, and Math.

This tutor role is a part of Voila Learning’s commitment to carrying out the MétaLingo project for learning French in early childhood. This project will allow preschoolers to interact easily in French with other children their age through activities and games designed to meet their evolving needs. The MetaVerse will simulate public spaces such as a daycare, classroom, or park, allowing each child to interact in French with their peers in realistic scenarios.

In education, it enables virtual classrooms, connecting students and teachers worldwide, increasing accessibility and convenience. In this role, you will use your expertise and strong communication skills to guide and motivate students to reach their full potential. You will work with students individually or in small groups to provide personalized instruction and support, using various online tools and resources with our educational 3D Virtual Environment. Your teaching style is important to meet the needs of students of various ages and be comfortable using technology to deliver lessons online. 🚀What will you do?

  • Use different tools to achieve student success such as interactive games, activities, whiteboards, and role playing
  • Identify necessary technical corrections in areas such as grammar, sentence structure, and accurate word usage
  • Tutor students in English, French and Math
  • Provide structured lesson plans based on student needs and goals
  • Research interesting topics for daily lessons then use Microsoft PowerPoint to create lesson for the virtual class
  • Provide resources and examples to help guide students through their work in various fields of study
  • Plan and conduct conversational English and French lessons on the MetaVerse while maintaining a comfortable and welcoming environment
  • Provide one on one sessions of communicative language
  • Guide students with mathematical concepts
  • Develop and prepare daily lesson plans that include interaction for students

  • Fluent in French and English both verbal and written
  • Excellent communication, listening and explanation skills
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to prioritize workload effectively
  • Reliability, patience and motivation
  • IT knowledge with the ability to make effective use of the Internet as an educational resource
  • Positive and outgoing personality

📚Qualifications:

  • Fluent or intermediate skills in French and English both verbal and written
  • Degree or diploma in a relevant field (preferred)
  • 1+ years of experience in tutor or leadership role
  • Past experience working with youth or students
